Two held for attempted assault at Vehari shrine

VEHARI:

Police have arrested two suspects for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a mentally challenged girl at a shrine's langar khana, officials said on Monday.

Police said the incident occurred at the Langar Khana of Baba Haji Sher Diwan shrine, where the suspects allegedly tried to assault the victim.

SHO Sahoaka Mirza Hasnain Abbas, along with a police team, launched a prompt operation and registered a case against the nominated suspects, identified as Atta Muhammad and Muhammad Muneer. Both accused were arrested shortly after the incident.

Police said a special team was constituted under the supervision of the SHO, which used modern investigative techniques and local intelligence to trace and apprehend the suspects.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of law.
