Flood mitigation preparedness stressed

Divisional Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen has directed the departments concerned to ensure proactive flood preparedness through comprehensive planning, mock exercises and timely preventive measures in addition to accelerating recovery of government dues across the division.

Presiding over a meeting on flood control planning, she instructed the deputy commissioners to submit contingency plans and conduct mock exercises to effectively deal with any emergency situation.

She emphasised that desilting must be carried out not only in urban centres but also in rural areas, towns and at the union council level to prevent urban flooding.

She directed the assistant commissioners to inspect the desilting process to ensure quality and timely completion. The commissioner also ordered an audit of the machinery of Rescue 1122 and sought details of available equipment from all departments to strengthen the emergency response capacity.
