Two killed, one injured in Karachi road accidents

Police arrest one driver, another flees as investigations continue

KARACHI:

At least two people were killed and one injured in separate traffic accidents in different areas of the city on Sunday.

In the first incident near Mauripur Truck Adda, a road accident left one person dead and another injured. Police and rescue teams reached the scene after being alerted. According to Chhipa officials, both victims were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi, where 30-year-old Hasnain was confirmed dead, while 28-year-old Zaid, son of Latif, sustained inju-ries.

Police said both victims were riding a motorcycle when it was reportedly hit by a loading truck. Authorities arrested the truck driver on the spot and impounded the vehicle. Further investigation is underway.

In a separate incident near Toll Plaza on Super Highway, a 17-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Abdullah, was killed in a traffic accident. According to rescue officials, he was riding with two others when their motorcycle slipped near a U-turn due to oil spilled on the road. In the ensuing chaos, Abdullah was struck by a passing dumper and died on the spot.

SHO Gadap Muhammad Ali said the dumper driver fled the scene after the incident, and efforts are underway to trace him. The deceased was a resident of Dau Minute Chowrangi, New Karachi. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
