SHC summons education secretary over suspension of salaries

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has summoned the provincial education secretary in a case concerning the suspension of salaries of teachers in the education department.

During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel argued that salaries had been withheld following allega-tions of fraudulent appointments made in 2012. The lawyer maintained that the petitioner had under-gone a scrutiny process and was cleared of all accusations in 2023.

Despite being exonerated and reinstated, the petitioner's identification credentials have not been reactivated, nor have their salaries been released, the court was told.

The government's counsel contended that the petitioner's name was not included in the scrutiny list formed under the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The court remarked that the matter requires clarification and directed that the education secretary appear in person.
