'Stray bullet' kills teenager

A 18-year-old medical student, the daughter of a Member of the National Assembly, died after being injured by an alleged stray bullet in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

The incident took place on Saturday night in Block 7 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal when Maah Noor, daughter of Iqbal Masood, was reportedly struck in the head by a bullet fired from an unknown direction inside her home. She was shifted to a private hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday morning during treatment.

SHO Muhammad Saood said the deceased was initially reported by her family to have fallen from stairs and suffered a head injury. She was taken to Patel Hospital under that account, where she later passed away.

However, during preliminary investigation, police found evidence suggesting a bullet injury. Officials said the family later termed it a stray bullet incident but declined to pursue legal action.

Further investigation is underway. The funeral prayers for the deceased were offered at Madina Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7, with a large number of family members and relatives in attend-ance. She was later laid to rest at a local graveyard.
