LAHORE:

The Virtual Women Police Station (VWPS) and Virtual Centre for Child Safety (VCCS) initiatives of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) have been shortlisted among the top 20 global projects in the e-governance category of the United Nations-backed World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026.

According to the PSCA spokesperson, the prizes are among the most credible global platforms in digital governance, recognising innovative and impactful initiatives from across the globe. The spokesperson stated that Pakistan is the only country with two projects shortlisted in the global list, both representing the Punjab government and PSCA.

The VWPS is Pakistan's first modern digital policing initiative dedicated to women's safety, through which over 935,281 cases have been facilitated, providing timely support and assistance to women. The Virtual Centre for Child Safety serves as an effective digital platform where 134,852 cases have been processed.
