Body buried in cattle pen in December

MULTAN:

Police arrested a suspect in what was initially reported as kidnapping but later turned out to be a murder case. Police checked the phone call record of relatives and dug out the body, officials said.

Multan CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar told a news conference on Wednesday that Muhammad Rashid, a resident of Nawabpur, had been reported abducted in December and a case registered at DHA police station under Section 365 PPC.

During investigations, call data record of relatives was checked, digital evidence collected and interviews of close relatives of the victim conducted.

The investigation led the police to suspect Usman, who was taken into custody and he confessed that he had shot dead Rashid the day he had been reported kidnapped and buried his body in his cattle pen.

According to the police, the call record showed that the suspect had relations with deceased's wife and when he came to know about it, he visited Usman's house on December 11. The suspect took the victim to his cattle pen where he killed him and buried the body there.

He then went into hiding and spread the rumour that he had embarked on a long trip to Malaysia.
