NEW YORK: Jenny Simpson won the Fifth Avenue Mile road race after edging out Sally Kipyego and Hannah England less than a month after she shocked the field to win the 1,500-metre world title in South Korea. She triumphed on New York City’s famous avenue in 4 minutes, 22.3 seconds as Kipyego and England were both clocked in at four minutes, 22.6 seconds. Simpson became the first American woman since Mary Decker in 1983 to win the 1,500-metre world crown with her stunning victory at the World Championships in Daegu.
