Peshawar Board suspends 17 teachers over MCQs leak

PESHAWAR:

The Department of Education has suspended 17 teachers from various examination halls for three months over allegations of leaking Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) during the ongoing Matric examinations.

In a decisive move, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar has announced and immediately enforced a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of cheating or paper leaks in the Matric exams.

According to the Chairman of BISE Peshawar, the action is being taken in line with directives from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure complete transparency in the examination system. The board has initiated swift and effective measures to protect the sanctity of the exams.

Seventeen teachers serving as invigilators or supervisory staff in Peshawar and Charsadda have been placed under suspension on the basis of preliminary allegations. An official inquiry has already been launched against the suspended teachers. If found guilty, they will face further strict disciplinary action, including possible termination of service.

Board officials emphasized that the future of students will not be compromised under any circumstances. "No form of malpractice or corruption in the examination process will be tolerated," they stated.

Special measures have been put in place to prevent copying and paper leaks during the ongoing Matric examinations, while the board is also focusing on providing maximum facilities and a comfortable environment for students.

The Chairman made it clear that efforts to ensure transparency in the examinations will continue without any discrimination, and action against those responsible will remain ongoing.

The move has been widely welcomed by parents and educationists who have long demanded strict action against elements involved in undermining the credibility of public examinations in the province.
