ISLAMABAD:

The CDA has decided to conduct a feasibility study for launching an electric tram service in the federal capital as part of efforts to promote an environmentally friendly and modern public transport system.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at the CDA Headquarters, chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting reviewed the practical implementation and infrastructure requirements for the proposed electric tram and e-bus projects in Islamabad. It was decided that the feasibility study for the electric tram project would be initiated at the earliest.

The tram system will be developed in line with a modern ITS and integrated with Islamabad's existing transit network.
