Michael B. Jordan early career interview grabs attention amid Oscar win
Michael B. Jordan early interview resurfaces after oscar win, highlighting views on awards recognition

A resurfaced interview featuring Michael B Jordan from the early 2000s has drawn renewed attention following his Academy Award win for Best Actor at the 2026 Oscars on March 15.
Before his recent success, Jordan appeared on the daytime talk show Soap Talk, where he discussed his role on All My Children and his early experiences in the television industry.
The actor portrayed Reggie Porter Montgomery on the long-running soap from 2003 to 2006, a role originally played by Chadwick Boseman.
In the interview, Jordan recalled how he secured the part after initially missing out during auditions.
“I came in for the audition for All My Children, and I didn't get it at first and ... Reggie Porter was played by, I'm not sure what the guy's name was, but [he only played him] for like, two shows, and then they called me back in for another read through, and I got it,” he said. “So I guess it was meant to be.”
During his time on the show, Jordan received three consecutive NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.
Reflecting on those nominations, he said, “I didn't win, but being nominated was honour enough just to be recognised in a class with all the veterans.”
He added, “Most other nominees were from Young and the Restless, so just being recognised was just honour enough to me.”
Jordan also shared that his parents encouraged him to prepare acceptance speeches, though he remained cautious about expectations. His mother even placed a written speech in his suit as a gesture of support.
Now aged 39, Jordan’s career has progressed significantly, culminating in his recent Oscar win, where he thanked his parents during his acceptance speech.
