Robert Pattinson has shared new details about The Batman Part II, indicating the upcoming sequel will take a different direction from its predecessor.

Speaking on the red carpet for the A24 film The Drama, in which he stars alongside Zendaya, Pattinson discussed the next instalment in Matt Reeves’ Batman series.

The actor is set to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader following the success of the 2022 film.

“The script is extraordinary,” Pattinson said. “I think it’s going to be a really, really special movie and very, very different.”

He added that the sequel would diverge from expectations established by the first film. “It’s going to be interesting seeing it come out. It’s taking some big swings,” Pattinson said.

The comments suggest a shift in tone or storytelling approach, although specific plot details have not been disclosed.

Pattinson is not the only cast member to comment on the project. Colin Farrell, who portrays Oswald “Oz” Cobb, also known as The Penguin, spoke about the script in a separate interview. He credited director Matt Reeves with delivering a detailed and complex story.

“I had many thoughts to share with Matt about the script. I really do think it’s a masterwork. Kind of a contemporary genre masterwork,” Farrell said. “It’s so brilliant, and Robert has got such a lovely journey to go on and take the audience through.”

He added, “It’s dense, it’s really, really intelligent, it’s so deep and detailed. I’m saying too much. I think he’s going to make an extraordinary film.”

Production on The Batman Part II is scheduled to begin this spring, with a planned release date of October 1 2027. Reports indicate that Scarlett Johansson is being considered for a role, while Sebastian Stan is also in discussions to join the cast.
