Burewala police bust drug trafficking ring
Police foiled an inter-district drug smuggling attempt and arrested three suspected drug dealers during a crackdown against narcotics launched across the district on the directives of Tasawur Iqbal.
According to police, the operation was carried out by Saddar Burewala Police Station, which arrested the suspects identified as Talib Hussain Kharral, a resident of Haveli Lakha, Abdul Hameed Dogar of Ahata Shah Nawaz, and Muhammad Hayat Ghaffari of Afaq Khan Chowk.
During the raid, police recovered 7,200 grams of hashish and 2,400 grams of opium from the suspects' possession.
The narcotics were allegedly intended to be supplied to different areas. Police also seized a Honda City car that was being used to transport the drugs.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Rana Muhammad Imran Tipu, with participation from the Station House Officer (SHO) Saddar Burewala and his team. A case has been registered against the suspects and further investigation is underway.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Vehari Tasawur Iqbal said that drug abuse is the root cause of many other crimes, and strict action against narcotics trafficking would continue under a zero-tolerance policy.
