Woman beaten to death by husband

A woman allegedly tortured by her husband and in-laws succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, police said on Sunday.

The victim, Shabnam Kausar, a resident of 505/EB, was reportedly attacked with batons by her husband Shahid Saleem. She suffered critical injuries and was shifted to the Burewala THQ Hospital.

Due to her deteriorating condition, doctors referred her to Sahiwal Hospital where she died during treatment, the police added.

Following the incident, the police registered a case on the complaint of the victim's brother Shaban against Shahid, the victim's father-in-law Muhammad Saleem and mother-in-law Shamim.

The police said all the nominated suspects had been arrested shortly after the registration of the case.
