Adam Sandler has once again landed at the top of Hollywood’s highest paid actors list, earning an estimated $48 million in 2025 and proving that his long running partnership with Netflix continues to pay off.
The ranking by Forbes highlights how Sandler’s streaming deal has kept him among the industry’s most reliable earners. Unlike traditional box office stars, Sandler receives large guaranteed payments regardless of how his films perform theatrically. His projects often go straight to streaming, where he remains one of Netflix’s most watched stars.
In 2025, Sandler produced and starred in Happy Gilmore 2 and also appeared in the Netflix film Jay Kelly, a role that even earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Golden Globes along with several critics awards. The projects helped push his annual earnings well ahead of most of his peers.
While Sandler took the top spot, other familiar Hollywood names also dominated the earnings list. Tom Cruise followed closely behind with $46 million thanks to his work on Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and an unusually generous box office profit deal. Mark Wahlberg came next with $44 million after starring in streaming projects for Apple TV and Prime Video.
The list also featured major names like Scarlett Johansson with $43 million, Brad Pitt with $41 million and Denzel Washington with $38 million. Meanwhile Millie Bobby Brown made history as the youngest performer on the list at just 22 years old, earning $26 million thanks largely to her work on Stranger Things and other streaming projects.
Despite the massive paydays, overall earnings for Hollywood’s biggest stars declined slightly compared with previous years. The combined income of the top twenty actors reached about $590 million, down from $730 million the year before. Industry insiders say the drop reflects fewer major star driven releases and the growing influence of streaming platforms over traditional box office models.
Still, the list shows that top tier actors remain a valuable part of Hollywood’s business. Studios and streaming companies continue to pay eight figure salaries to stars who can draw attention to projects in an increasingly crowded entertainment industry.
Sandler’s position at number one shows that in the streaming era, consistent partnerships and loyal audiences can be just as powerful as box office dominance.
