Int'l Women's Day discounts beckon shoppers
Women avail major offers on clothes, accessories and cosmetics at opportune moment before Eid

A large number of women flocked to markets and shopping malls across the federal capital on Saturday to avail special discount offers at leading brands and retailers in connection in celebration of International Women's Day, which is observed worldwide on March 8.
Major commercial centres and shopping malls in Islamabad witnessed a noticeable increase in footfall as clothing brands, cosmetic outlets and accessory stores launched promotional sales offering discounts ranging from around 20 to 50 per cent.
The offers attracted women of all ages, particularly students and working professionals eager to purchase clothing, handbags, jewellery and beauty products at reduced prices.
Talking to the media, Aila, a customer visiting a prominent shopping mall in Sector F-8, said the discounts provided a good opportunity to buy quality products at more affordable prices. "Such offers allow us to shop for items we normally postpone buying due to high prices," she added.
Another shopper, Parsa, who was visiting a shopping centre in Melody Market in Sector G-6, also expressed excitement over the sales. She said the Women's Day promotions were a welcome initiative. "It is encouraging to see brands celebrating women with special offers. The discounts make shopping easier for many of us," she remarked.
Retailers also reported increase in sales as the promotional campaigns attracted a steady stream of customers. Ahmad, a shopkeeper at Aabpara Market, said the response had been better than expected. "Since the announcement of Women's Day discounts, our store has seen a significant increase in customers, particularly during the evening hours," he noted.
Saif, another retailer, believed that such promotional activities not only celebrate women but also help stimulate business activity at a time when inflation has reduced the purchasing power of many consumers. "People are more cautious about spending nowadays, so discount sales encourage them to shop," he said.
Market observers noted that linking promotional campaigns with International Women's Day has become increasingly common, with brands using the occasion both to appreciate women and boost retail sales.
The rush in markets and shopping malls is expected to continue through the weekend as shoppers hurry to take advantage of the limited-time discounts before the promotional offers conclude.
