RAWALPINDI:

In view of the prevailing border and security situation and possible threats, security measures across Rawalpindi have been intensified and a high alert has been declared for police and other security agencies.

According to a threat advisory issued for the 19th to 21st of Ramazan, strict implementation of security arrangements has been directed.

On the instructions of City Police Officer Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani, SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob issued a circular to the SP Security and Headquarters, all divisional SPs, circle officers and station house officers.

The directive states that security for all important installations, joint pickets, one-wheeling checkpoints and mosques, imambargahs and other minority places of worship during Ramadan should be further strengthened.

All divisional SPs have been instructed to check forces deployed at joint and other pickets every two hours and keep them briefed about the security situation.

Security of important government buildings, installations, Nur Khan Airbase Chaklala, police lines, schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions must be repeatedly checked while keeping the force on high alert.
