Govt boosts blood safety oversight

The National Assembly was informed on Thursday that the government was strengthening the blood transfusion monitoring system in an effort to control hepatitis.
Replying to a calling attention notice, the parliamentary secretary for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination said private clinics were also being monitored to ensure the safe use of syringes and other medical equipment.
Dental clinics, which can also pose a risk of infection, were being brought under stricter regulatory oversight.
He expressed the hope that Pakistan will be able to eliminate Hepatitis B and C by 2030.
