Calls for global disarmament to ensure lasting peace

CM urges UN action against arms proliferation, calls for promoting tolerance

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that reducing armaments and promoting peace are essential to making the world a safer place, while also calling for the promotion of tolerance and harmony in society.

In his message on the International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness, the chief minister said nuclear and other lethal weapons pose a serious threat to humanity. He stressed that maintaining global stability and preventing the proliferation of such weapons were vital for international peace.

He urged the United Nations to take effective measures for maintaining peace and order across the world, adding that strong international cooperation was necessary to curb the spread of arms. CM Shah said the illegal trade in weapons remained a serious threat to global peace and development, adding that reducing armaments could help end conflicts and safeguard human lives.

He also stressed the importance of creating awareness among the younger generation about peace, tolerance and non-violence, saying sustainable peace could only be achieved by educating youth about the values of harmony and coexistence.

The chief minister added that the world should focus on education, development and human welfare instead of an arms race, as peace and stability form the foundation of sustainable progress.

Separately, the chief minister extended greetings to the Muslim Ummah on the birth anniversary of Imam Hassan (AS), describing his life as a shining example for humanity.

In his message, CM Shah said the life of Imam Hassan (AS) reflected patience, tolerance, unity and compassion, and set a remarkable example of peace and harmony within the Muslim community. He said society should promote love, brotherhood and unity by following the teachings of Imam Hassan (AS) and Imam Hussain (AS).

The chief minister said the life of Imam Hassan (AS) serves as a guiding light for the Muslim Ummah and prayed that Allah grant everyone the ability to follow the teachings of the Ahl-e-Bait. He reaffirmed that his government would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting peace, stability and human security.
