Ryan Gosling is ready to join the prestigious Saturday Night Live Five-Timers Club—he's just a bit early.

In a new promo for his upcoming hosting stint, Gosling raids the Studio 8H wardrobe closet and discovers the coveted Five-Timers Club jacket. What follows is a swagger-filled victory lap through the halls, with the actor lighting a cigarette with Mikey Day's burning headshot, blowing a "5"-shaped smoke ring at cast member Tommy Brennan, and dousing his cigarette in Brennan's coffee before smacking the cup away.

The celebration hits its peak when Gosling mounts a stuffed horse and sprays Champagne everywhere—only for Day to deliver the bad news while shielding himself with an umbrella.

"This is actually going to be your fourth time hosting," Day informs him.

Gosling pauses to recount his previous appearances: the "Close Encounters" sketch with Kate McKinnon (December 2015), the beloved "Papyrus" short (September 2017), and the transformative "Beavis and Butt-Head" sketch opposite Day (April 2024). He asks if other hosts have made this mistake before. Day's answer: nope.

The promo, set to musical guest Gorillaz's hit "Clint Eastwood," showcases Gosling's trademark comedic timing as he processes the mathematical reality check.

Gosling returns to SNL ahead of the release of Project Hail Mary, the film adaptation of Andy Weir's sci-fi novel. His April 2024 hosting turn delivered impressive numbers: 7.51 million linear viewers, marking SNL's largest linear audience since Steve Martin and Martin Short co-hosted in December 2022. Across platforms, it drew 8.9 million viewers—the show's best cross-platform performance in over two years.

Gorillaz makes their SNL debut as musical guest, riding the February 27 release of their new album, The Mountain.

The episode airs this weekend on NBC. Whether Gosling tries on the jacket again remains to be seen—but he's got one more hosting gig to earn it first.
