'Sasta Rehri Bazaar' set up, old carts removed
.

A new Sasta Rehri Sabzi-Fruit Bazaar has been established at Committee Chowk to provide affordable fruits and vegetables to fasting citizens during Ramazan.
The rehri bazaars will become functional from 10th Ramazan. A total of 10 such subsidised cart markets have been set up across the city and cantonment areas.
While carts were previously placed at these locations, all such carts have now been granted legal status until 30th Ramadan, and the markets will continue even after Eidul Fitr.
Besides Committee Chowk Fish Centre on Iqbal Road, the carts will also be set up at Raja Bazaar, Jamia Masjid Road, Rawal Road, Morgah, Adiala, Chakri, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Dhoke Hassu and Khayaban-e-Sir Syed. Old and dilapidated carts have been removed and replaced with newly designed ones featuring sloping roofs and cabinet-style storage spaces for stock.
Each cart will be issued a registration number and recorded with the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation.
The deputy commissioner and PML-N leaders are scheduled to visit the bazaar on Saturday. Officially notified prices will be implemented, and overcharging will result in cancellation of registration and reallocation of the cart.
Local residents said carts have been operating at the site for the past 50 years and urged authorities to ensure genuine price relief instead of merely changing the carts' appearance.
