An American Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 was found with apparent bullet holes after landing at Miami International Airport on Monday following a trip from Colombia.

According to reports, Flight AA923 had completed a round trip that included a stop at José María Córdova International Airport when a routine post-flight inspection revealed puncture marks on the aircraft’s right aileron, a control surface responsible for lateral balance.

Despite the damage, the plane flew and landed safely, with no reported injuries or in-flight issues.

American Airlines said the aircraft was immediately removed from service for inspection and repair, adding that it will work with relevant authorities to investigate the incident. After temporary stabilization work in Miami, the jet was later transferred to the airline’s primary maintenance hub at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, where it remains grounded pending a full assessment.

It is unclear how the damage occurred or how many passengers were on board at the time.
