Police rescue three suspected muggers from lynch mob

A suspected robber was killed during an attempted mugging in Baldia Town, while three other suspects were beaten by residents in a separate incident in Federal B Area on Monday, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred in Rashidabad, Baldia Town, when three motorbike-riding suspects attempted to snatch cash from a scrap dealer after he withdrew Rs200,000 from an ATM. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the citizen, identified as Riaz, but he escaped unharmed and retaliated with his licensed pistol.
During the exchange of fire, the suspects fled on their motorcycle; however, one of them, who was seated at the back, was hit by a bullet and fell off after sustaining serious injuries. Police reached the spot and shifted the injured suspect to Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity could not be immediately ascertained. Site-B SHO Muhammad Sajjad said the deceased was believed to be involved in the attempted robbery.
In a separate incident in Ishaqabad, Federal B Area, three suspected robbers were caught and beaten by local residents before police arrived. According to residents, the three men were roaming suspiciously on a motorcycle when locals stopped them. One of the suspects allegedly opened fire, but the targeted citizen remained safe.
