Momina Iqbal's 'Maryam Nawaz for Karachi' remark goes viral
Actress praises Punjab conditions; clip sparks online debate

A video clip of Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal speaking about Karachi is rapidly circulating on social media, in which she expresses her wish for Maryam Nawaz's presence in the city to help bring improvement.
During a show, she said, "Right now, by the grace of God, the situation in Punjab is quite good."
In the clip, Momina adds that a lot of good work is currently being done in Punjab and that conditions there are much better. The host responded, "So say something for the people of Karachi as well?"
The actress replied that she had already raised the issue, saying, "If there is anyone for the people of Karachi, please let us know," adding that she mostly lives in Karachi, so it is her city too and she faces certain issues there.
The host added, "Tell them to explain it to someone there as well. No one seems to be listening to us, maybe they will listen to you."
Momina responded, "Yes please, I hope a Maryam Nawaz comes here too."
It is worth mentioning that in January last year, during a meeting with traders, Karachi's business community told Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, "Give us Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and you can keep Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah."
That demand went viral on social media, where users strongly criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party and Murad Ali Shah.
Momina Iqbal made her acting debut in 2018 with Parlour Wali Larki as the female protagonist Maryam. She later appeared in serials like Khuda Aur Muhabbat 3, Ishq Mein Kaafir, Ajnabi Lage Zindagi and Ehd-e-Wafa. In 2019, she made her film debut with Daal Chawal as Sonia.
