Highguard developer addresses shutdown concerns after website outage
Highguard developer says website transfer is low priority, denies shutdown fears

Highguard developer Wildlight Entertainment has responded to concerns that the PvP shooter could be facing closure after the game’s official website went offline.
The title launched with a peak player count of nearly 100,000, but activity has since fallen sharply. At the time of writing, concurrent players have dropped by around 98%, with fewer than 1,000 users in-game.
Reports of mass redundancies, combined with the website outage, prompted speculation among players that Highguard may be at risk of being shut down.
In response, a developer addressed the issue on the game’s official Discord server. The developer wrote: “Not sure on the timeframe, but [the website] basically needs to be transferred and simplified. Low priority atm (reputational damage already done). Now we just need to focus on delivering updates and content to improve.”
According to the statement, the website’s removal is linked to administrative changes rather than the future of the game itself.
The developer indicated that current priorities centre on updates and additional content aimed at improving the player experience and stabilising engagement levels.
No timeline has been provided for when the website will return. However, the message reassured players that the outage does not signal an imminent shutdown.
Highguard’s initial launch generated significant interest within the competitive shooter community, but the subsequent drop in player numbers has raised questions about its long-term sustainability.
For now, Highguard remains live, with the team stating that delivering updates and new content is the immediate priority as it seeks to rebuild momentum among its player base.
