Court filings detail Sheri Easterling’s bid for sole custody after Monty Lopez’s reported arrest

Addison Rae’s parents, Sheri Easterling and Monty Lopez, are involved in an ongoing custody dispute, according to court documents and media reports.

Rae, born Addison Rae Easterling, is the eldest child of Easterling and Lopez. The couple, originally from Louisiana, first married in 2002, later separated, and remarried in 2017. During divorce proceedings, Easterling stated in court filings that their most recent marriage date was January 18, 2018. Their divorce was finalized in 2022.

In a 2020 episode of the “That Was Fun?” podcast, Rae spoke about periods in her childhood when her father was not heavily involved in her life. She reflected on her mother raising her for several years largely on her own and recalled accompanying Easterling to work frequently during that time.

Lopez also addressed the separation in a past interview with Page Six, stating that the divorce had been finalized and that the couple had been separated for more than two years before it concluded. He said he had found closure following their remarriage and subsequent split.

Easterling is now seeking sole custody of the couple’s son, who was born in 2013. According to recent filings, she has asked the court to legally confirm Lopez as the child’s father, designate her as the primary custodial parent, and grant Lopez only supervised visitation. She is also requesting child support.

The custody petition follows reported legal issues involving Lopez. As first highlighted by TMZ, Easterling alleged in court documents that Lopez was arrested on July 27, 2025, on a felony charge of indecent exposure, which was categorized as a sex crime. The filing also references multiple alleged arrests for driving under the influence and raises concerns about alcohol use.

In the petition, Easterling outlines several allegations dating back to their marriage. She claims that in 2005 Lopez verbally demeaned her and used profane language. She further alleges that he physically grabbed her by the neck and pushed her onto a bed during an argument.

The filing also includes an allegation that in 2008 Lopez slapped their daughter Addison with an open hand after she talked back to him. Another claim from 2018 states that after she declined a sexual advance, Lopez insulted her and later allegedly held a pillow over her face while she was sleeping on a couch.

Additionally, Easterling alleges that on October 29, 2025, Lopez came to her home, banged on the door, and prompted her to contact law enforcement.

Neither Rae nor her representatives have publicly commented on the custody matter. Legal proceedings remain ongoing.
