KBT demands promised plots for nullah affectees

Group said 1,200 approved "missing IDs" from Gujjar, Mehmoodabad, Orangi nullahs pending compensation, plot allotment.

Karachi Bachao Tehreek (KBT) on Sunday held a protest-turned-public rally outside the Karachi Press Club, demanding plot allotment, compensation, and resolution of "missing ID" cases for affectees ofQPPGujjar, Orangi and Mehmoodabad nullahs, as well as Gul Plaza.

The group had initially announced a march towards the Chief Minister House but said the Assistant Commissioner invited its representatives for negotiations. Following talks with the Commissioner's Office, the protest was shifted to the Press Club, where KBT leaders briefed participants on the outcome of the meeting.

According to KBT, the Commissioner's Office assured that no demolition beyond 25 feet from the nullahs would take place in line with Supreme Court orders, and that a focal person would be appointed to address complaints regarding further "cutting".

The group said over 1,200 approved "missing IDs" from Gujjar, Mehmoodabad and Orangi nullahs are pending compensation and plot allotment.
