2 killed, four injured in highway robbery

Attackers managed to free their accomplice, fled the scene

Two men were shot dead and four others injured when armed robbers opened indiscriminate fire during a robbery attempt on the interprovincial Dera-Quetta Highway near Sakhi Sarwar, triggering protests and the suspension of the local SHO.

Police said several armed assailants attempted to rob motorists on the busy highway.

During the incident, local residents reportedly resisted and managed to overpower one of the suspects. However, the accomplices of the captured robber opened indiscriminate fire to secure his release.

As a result of the firing, two citizens, identified as Mansoor and Shafiq, were killed on the spot.

Four others, Ashraf, Muhammad Adnan, Muhammad Majeed and Abdul Rasheed, sustained serious injuries.

The attackers managed to free their accomplice and fled the scene.

Police and rescue teams reached the site shortly after receiving information and shifted the injured and deceased to the Trauma Centre in Dera Ghazi Khan.
