Film director Brett Ratner addressed questions about a newly released photograph showing him alongside late financier Jeffrey Epstein, telling interviewer Piers Morgan that the image reflects a decades‑old social situation and not an ongoing association, according to news reports.

The photograph, unsealed recently as part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s release of files related to Epstein’s criminal investigation, shows Ratner seated on a couch next to Epstein and two unidentified women whose faces were redacted in the public documents. The image surfaced amid renewed public attention because of the high profile of both the disgraced financier and Ratner, who is promoting his new documentary Melania.

During the interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Morgan asked Ratner to respond to the photo’s release and what it implied about his relationship with Epstein. Ratner said the picture was taken around 20 years ago at an event he attended after being invited by his then‑fiancée, who appears in the photograph. He reiterated that he had no contact with Epstein before or after that moment. Ratner declined to name his former partner, saying she preferred to remain unidentified.

Ratner also clarified that he is no longer with the woman in the image, and throughout the exchange appeared uncomfortable as Morgan pressed him about the context of the photograph. While the Justice Department’s release has drawn widespread attention, officials and reporting note that the images themselves do not constitute allegations of criminal conduct against Ratner.

The director’s career was previously affected by allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017, which he and his representatives denied. Melania, his first major project since that controversy, was released shortly before the Epstein files emerged.
