GUJRAT:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Gujrat seized 500 kilograms of banned polythene bags during an operation at Shahdola Goods Station on GT Road, officials said.

The action was taken on the directives of District Officer Environment Osama Majid as part of an ongoing crackdown against the use and distribution of environmentally harmful plastic bags.

EPA teams raided the site and confiscated the illegally stored polythene bags. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those found responsible for storing and transporting the banned material.

According to an Environment Department spokesperson, the campaign aims to curb environmental pollution and ensure strict implementation of government directives regarding plastic waste.

The official added that such operations would continue across the district to discourage violations and promote the use of eco-friendly alternatives.
