CM wants every child vaccinated aganist polio
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday presided over a meeting of the provincial Polio Task Force, reviewing the latest data, campaign preparations, and setting targets for the upcoming vaccination campaign starting February 2. He reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to eradicating the virus.
The meeting examined current epidemiological trends, past campaign performance, and arrangements for the National Immunisation Days (NIDs), scheduled from February 2 to 8, 2026.
During the campaign, oral polio vaccine (OPV) drops will be administered to 10.5 million people, including 8.9 million children under five years of age. The drive will cover 1,490 union councils across 30 districts, with more than 80,000 frontline polio workers deployed. They will be supported by over 21,000 law enforcement personnel, including more than 1,000 female police constables.
The chief minister stressed that polio eradication is a national responsibility and commended collective efforts that are yielding positive results. "Elimination of polio is our national duty, and the Sindh government is taking all necessary measures to achieve this goal," he said.
