The grounds of the historic Frere Hall on Friday welcomed the spring with a colourful annual marigold show.

The metro, otherwise dubbed as a concrete jungle, presented a corner of relief to people who enjoyed the flower show in sparkling sunshine that had returned to the city after an extended cold snap.

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the three-day sixth annual Marigold Flower Show at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Frere Hall. Over 100,000 plants and flowers, including 112,000 marigolds grown at KMC's nursery, are on display.

Wahab said practical steps are being taken to make Karachi greener and more beautiful, with upgraded parks and urban forestry projects underway.
