KARACHI:

Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly, Ali Khursheedi, has said that Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf did not support Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) protest over the Gul Plaza tragedy.

He announced that since the government has accepted MQM-P's demand for a judicial commission, it will stop the protests in the assembly sessions.

Speaking at a press conference in the Sindh Assembly media gallery on Friday, Khursheedi noted that the Gul Plaza incident claimed more than 80 lives and caused billions of rupees in losses. He criticised the lack of basic facilities and deteriorating law and order in Karachi, saying this is a city where people die after falling into open drains or being hit by dumpers, while even transport facilities remain unavailable.
