Six killed as vehicle plunges into deep gorge

MOHMAND:

A tragic road accident occurred on Friday when a Toyota Fielder motorcar, traveling from Ambar to Yekah Ghand in Lower Mohmand tribal district, veered off a dangerous bend and plunged into a deep gorge, leaving six people dead and one injured.

According to rescue officials, three victims died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical intervention, three more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The deceased were later transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ghazni for necessary post-mortem and official procedures.

The victims have been identified as Wazir Khan, son of Karimullah, resident of Kamangra, Tehsil Ambar; Zardol, son of Yar Khan, resident of Chargali, Tehsil Ambar; Zahir Gul, son of Momin Khan, resident of Kamangra; Mir Alam; Ghulam Saeed, son of Bakht Muhammad, resident of Chargali, Tehsil Ambar; and Noor Bashar, son of Jan Khan, resident of Kamangra. The sole survivor, Gul Badshah, son of Mehran Gul, resident of Kamangra, is undergoing treatment at the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution on the hazardous stretches of the Mohmand-Peshawar highway, as such bends have proven deadly in past accidents.
