Sakhan police have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a newlywed couple in Cattle Colony. One of the arrested men has been identified as the victim's father.
According to police, unidentified armed assailants ambushed and opened fire on Wednesday night near Insaf Kanta, Road No. 10, in the Cattle Colony area, critically injuring 30-year-old Sudhir and his 27-year-old wife, Saima. The couple was rushed to a hospital, where both succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Sakhan police registered FIR on the complaint of the victim's brother. Following raids at multiple locations late at night, police arrested two suspects identified as Deedar and Ali Haider. Police officials said Deedar is Saima's father.
According to Sultan Ahmed, Sudhir and Saima had entered into a court marriage two months ago. The couple belonged to the same neighbourhood in Sujawal, Thatta, and had been residing in Karachi's Cattle Colony for the past two months. On Wednesday night, they were returning from a relative's house in Shah Latif Town when they were attacked near the Cattle Colony turn.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects, along with accomplices, killed the couple in the name of "honour." Police said raids are ongoing to arrest other nominated suspects in the case.
