Thahim scion vows return to clear father's name

Brother of PPP MPA accuses lawmaker, uncle of corruption in Rs5.5bn NAB probe

HYDERABAD:

Pakistan Peoples Party's MPA Shahid Abdul Salaam Thahim's brother has accused the MPA and his paternal uncle of corruption, alleging that their actions have tarnished the reputation of their deceased father, ex-provincial minister Abdul Salaam Thahim. In a video message released from the USA, Fahad Salaam Thahim announced plans to return to Pakistan to restore the honour of their father and their community.

He highlighted that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is investigating a Rs5.5 billion case against his brother, elected from Sanghar district, and others. "Those funds were meant to build homes for the homeless and schools for children," he lamented.

Thahim said the constituency had elected his brother on the legacy of their father, who served the people of Sanghar for three to four decades without facing a single corruption allegation. On the same seat, his uncle Abdul Rehman Thahim is also allegedly tarnishing father's name.

He clarified that his return to Pakistan is not motivated by personal gain, asserting that he already owns substantial properties a in the US.
