ISLAMABAD:

Senior PTI leaders Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz have resigned from the party's political committee, sources confirmed on Wednesday.

Both leaders conveyed their resignations to PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and suggested that the committee should comprise only current office-holders.

In a post on micro-blogging site X, Omar said due to legal and political commitments, he would be unable to actively participate in the committee. He emphasized that political committee membership should remain limited to serving party officials and recommended the inclusion of National Assembly Leader of Opposition Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Reaffirming loyalty to PTI founder Imran Khan, Omar stated he was, remains, and will continue to be an Imran Khan worker.

Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz respectively served as the leaders of opposition in the National Assembly and the Senate.

However, the PTI leaders were de-seated by the Election Commission of Pakistan following their conviction in May 9 rioting cases in August last year.
