NEPRA to hear power tariff hike plea

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) is scheduled to hear on Thursday (today) an application filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) seeking an increase in electricity tariff under the monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism.
If approved, power consumers may face an increase of Rs0.48 per unit for one month.
According to CPPA, a total of 8.487 billion units of electricity were generated in December, while 8.208 billion units were supplied to distribution companies at an average cost of Rs9.62 per unit.
