ISLAMABAD:

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) will meet next month to consider the appointment of six additional judges to the Balochistan High Court (BHC).

The meeting — to be chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, who is also the JCP chairman — will be held on Thursday, February 12, at the Supreme Court in Islamabad.

The commission will consider the names of Jan Muhammad Gohar and Pazir Ahmed Baloch for appointment as additional judges. Gohar has served as the BHC registrar while Baloch was appointed as the BHC member inspection team in April 2024.

The names of Allah Dad Roshan and Abdul Qayyum Lehri will also be taken up for consideration. Roshan serves as a district and sessions judge in Quetta while Lehri was appointed as the BHC registrar in July 2025.

In addition, the names of Inayatullah Khan and Rehmatullah will be reviewed for appointment as additional judges. Khan also serves as a district and sessions judge.

This month the JCP has appointed permanent and additional judges at various provincial high courts in a series of meetings.

The JCP is a constitutional body established under Article 175A of the Constitution of Pakistan, responsible for the appointment of judges to the superior judiciary.
