Six-member team to investigate alleged rape of minor in Sanghar

The Sindh police chief has constituted a six-member committee, led by DIG Mirpurkhas Range, to investigate the alleged rape and torture case of Chautiarion area in Sanghar district.
The committee, whose members include SSP Hyderabad Adeel Hussain Chandio, SSP Sanghar Abid Baloch, DSP Legal Zikria Korejo and two inspectors, Abdul Hakeem Kumbhar and Zahid Kamboh, will have to submit weekly investigation updates to the IGP.
On January 20 a minor aged around 14 years to 15 years was allegedly raped and tortured in a village near Chautiarion. A son of an influential landlord, Wazir Rajar, has been accused in the FIR registered on complaint of the rape victim Shadbano Mallah.
The Central Secretary Information of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Shazia Atta Marri on Sunday inquired after Mallah's health by visiting her in Liaquat University Hospital (LUH), Hyderabad. Expressing solidarity, she assured the poor family that the government will provide them protection and the support which they needed to fight for justice. "The incident was deeply distressing and it left the humanity ashamed," the MNA said while talking to the media in the hospital.
Mallah, who was allegedly raped on the night of January 20, was referred to the LUH on January 22 from Peoples University Medical Hospital, Benazirabad district.
The hospital formed a medical board of 12 doctors on January 23 to provide medical and psychological treatment to the patient in addition to maintaining the medico-legal record.
The LUH's spokesman Asghar Ali Pathan informed that the patient underwent dental, mexico facial and plastic surgeries. She is also being provided psychotherapy. The accused had allegedly caused cuts with a sharp object on the victim's forehead, nose, lips and tongue.
The incident's FIR was registered at Chautiarion police station under sections 376, 311 and 337 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
