Punjab completes formation of 41 WASAs

On the orders of the provincial government, the process of establishing Water and Sanitation Agencies (WASA) has been completed in 41 out of Punjab's 43 districts, including 5 districts of Rawalpindi Division.
Each newly formed WASA has been issued an initial working grant of Rs500 million, while three sub-WASAs have been provided Rs300 million each.
In Rawalpindi Division, full-fledged WASAs have been established in five of the six districts, while Talagang district will have a sub-WASA. The managing director of Chakwal WASA will also serve as the managing director of the Talagang sub-WASA.
New full WASAs have been established in Murree, Jhelum, and Chakwal, while Rawalpindi already had a WASA in place. The appointment of managing directors for all newly established WASAs has also been completed.
From February 1, all new WASAs will formally begin operations in their respective cities to improve water supply and sewerage systems.
The new WASAs will issue water and sewerage bills to consumers and ensure their recovery. An additional grant of Rs200 million will also be provided to all new WASAs before the next budget.
