Investigation into plaza fire gains momentum
The investigation into the tragic Gul Plaza fire has accelerated, with the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) submitting all relevant records to the Karachi Commissioner. The records, spanning seven files, include pending court cases, unauthorised construction documents, revised building plans, and regularisation proposals, and have been formally deposited at the Additional Commissioner's office, Preedy Quarters, South District.
According to SBCA officials, the submitted files are intended to ensure transparency in the investigation and support legal action. Three of the files pertain to pending court cases dating back to 1992, 2015, and 2021 regarding the legal status of the building and unauthorised construction. SBCA emphasised that the compilation of these records, completed four days after the incident, provides the investigative team with comprehensive details.
