Illegal NOC cancelled as measures launched against future encroachments

Karachi University has launched decisive measures to safeguard its campus land and prevent any future encroachments, reaffirming its commitment to protecting one of the city's largest educational spaces. The move comes after the cancellation of a controversial No Objection Certificate (NOC) for an illegally constructed petrol pump on university premises.
In a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Deputy Commissioner East Nasrullah Abbasi and Director General of the Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh, Imtiaz Abro, discussed follow-up measures to ensure long-term protection of the campus. The authorities emphasised that proper land demarcation and mutation should be completed promptly, creating a clear legal framework to prevent unauthorised construction in the future.
Professor Dr Iraqi praised the swift action by the government officials and reiterated the university's determination to secure all its land and assets permanently. He highlighted a specially convened single-agenda syndicate meeting, which laid the groundwork for a clear and enforceable strategy to tackle encroachments.
The cancellation of the NOC and the university's proactive measures mark a significant step toward safeguarding Karachi University's campus, ensuring it remains a secure space for students, faculty, and future generations.
