RAWALPINDI:

A video showing the brutal assault of a rickshaw driver by influential suspects on Dhan Gali Highway in the jurisdiction of Kallar Syedan Police Station has surfaced, prompting immediate action by police.

The suspects allegedly tortured the driver and looted cash and a mobile phone.

In the video, three to four individuals can be seen mercilessly beating the rickshaw driver, causing him to fall to the ground. He can be seen attempting to shield himself by moving his hands and feet, while one person is heard repeatedly instructing others to continue beating him. One of the suspects is also seen recording the video.

Rawalpindi CPO Khalid Hamdani took notice of the incident, after which Kallar Syedan police registered a case on the complaint of rickshaw driver Jazib Hussain against Gulfaraz and five others under charges of robbery involving more than Rs37,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and an identity card.

A police team led by SHO Aqib Razzaq arrested two of the nominated suspects, while raids are underway to apprehend the remaining accused.

CPO Khalid Hamdani stated that elements who take the law into their own hands deserve no leniency and that the remaining suspects will also be arrested soon.
