Digital cell recovers Rs40m in stolen phones

HYDERABAD:

The Digital Investigation Cell of DIG Hyderabad recovered around 1,100 stolen and snatched mobile phones, worth about Rs40 million, in 2025. The cell's In Charge Zohaib Hussain, told The Express Tribune that the number of complaints being received at the cell are steadily going up since they set up the cell in 2023.

According to him, the stolen or robbed mobile phones are being recovered not just from other districts of Sindh but from other provinces as well. Briefly explaining their modus operandi, he told that after tracing locations of then lost phones the cell approaches the concerned police stations for the recovery.
