At least three people were killed on Wednesday when a landslide struck Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat district, rescue officials said.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi, the landslide occurred in the Qamar Killi area on the outskirts of Tehsil Gambat. Initial reports suggested that seven people were trapped under the debris after the collapse.

Rescue 1122 teams were dispatched to the site soon after the incident and began efforts to reach those buried under the rubble. Three people were pulled out, including one person who was already dead and two others who were injured, the spokesperson said.

The two injured victims later died from their injuries, taking the death toll to three.

Rescue operations were continuing to recover the remaining trapped individuals, Faizi added.
