Indonesian Defence Minister Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (Retd) called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to discuss strengthening defence ties, the military's media wing said on Monday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional and global security dynamics, and opportunities to enhance bilateral security cooperation. Both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening institutional linkages, training collaboration, and defence industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.

According to the statement, the visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and recognised their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed Indonesia’s desire to expand defence ties with Pakistan across multiple domains.

The ISPR added that Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a strong and enduring defence relationship with Indonesia, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and convergence of strategic interests.
