RAWALPINDI:

The dispute between the Flour Mills Association and Attock police over a raid, alleged torture, arrests and vandalism at flour mills in Wah Cantt has been resolved, leading to the end of the strike and restoration of flour supply.

A delegation of Attock police, led by the DSP and the concerned SHO, met leaders of the Flour Mills Association and stated that the action had taken place due to a misunderstanding.

The police tendered an apology and released all arrested individuals.

Following successful negotiations, Flour Mills Association leader and Vice Chairman Raza Ahmed Shah announced the end of the strike and allowed the resumption of flour supply across the Rawalpindi division.

As a result, flour transportation and sales resumed, easing the flour shortage crisis in Rawalpindi.

Officials of the Food Department, Rawalpindi, also played a key role in resolving the issue. Punjab Flour Mills Association Chairman Riazullah Khan endorsed the decision of the Rawalpindi division association representatives.

The head of the Food Department in Rawalpindi also played a crucial role.

Earlier, Attock Hassan Abdal police, despite being from another district, had entered the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi district and raided flour mills in Wah Cantt.

Police allegedly tortured employees, vandalised property, seized all CCTV cameras, and arrested staff members. In protest, the Flour Mills Association launched a strike and halted flour supply across the Rawalpindi division.

Meanwhile, official prices of flour have also increased. A 10kg bag of red flour is now being sold at Rs1,300, a 15kg bag of fine flour at Rs2,100, and a 20kg bag of fine flour at Rs2,750.

The Naanbai Association has demanded an increase in roti and naan prices due to the rising cost of flour and refined flour.
