Priyanka Chopra may be gearing up to join the Power Rangers universe as the infamous villain Rita Repulsa. Sources with connections to the franchise revealed that Chopra is on the studio’s wishlist for the role, although no official confirmation has been released. The actress is no stranger to playing a baddie, having portrayed a formidable antagonist in Baywatch in 2017, which could give her a leg up in the casting process. Her high-profile marriage to Jonas brother Nick Jonas may also provide additional visibility within the studio.

The Disney+ Power Rangers series is still in early development, but insiders report that a number of other young actors have been considered or tested for roles. Among them are Shaun Dixon, known for Vampirina: Teenage Vampire, Paris Bravo from Venom: The Last Dance, Judd Goodstein of Young Jedi Adventures, Momona Tamada from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Christian Alexander Cruz and Kira McLean.

The series will be led by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz, the creative duo behind Disney+’s hit Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Both will serve as writers, producers and showrunners, bringing a wealth of experience in adapting beloved franchises for streaming audiences.

If Chopra lands the part, it would mark her first major involvement in a live-action Power Rangers production, adding another high-profile role to her extensive film and television career. Fans of the franchise and Chopra alike will be keeping a close eye on the official announcements, which could come in the coming months as casting continues.
