KARACHI:

Pakistan Customs has dismantled an organised international drug smuggling network at Jinnah International Airport, arresting its alleged ringleader.

The officials seized a high-value consignment of Ecstasy tablets smuggled into Pakistan through postal channels.

According to customs officials, the operation led to the recovery of more than 10,000 Ecstasy tablets, weighing approximately 4.5 kilograms and valued at over Rs3.2 billion. The narcotics had been dispatched from Germany and were routed to Pakistan through international mail.

The seizure marked a major breakthrough against a syndicate involved in organised narcotics trafficking.

Customs authorities said the group's alleged mastermind, Sher Muhammad, son of Muhammad Jan, along with other members of the network, had been arrested. They said that the operation originated from a suspicious parcel that arrived at Karachi Airport in December 2025.

When a man identified as Kamran, believed to be a member of the group, arrived at the airport to collect the parcel, customs officials placed him under surveillance as part of a pre-planned operation.

Officials traced the network through sustained monitoring to a covert drug distribution hub in the Korangi area.
